Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Gordon County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive certain technical information whenever a page loads:
- Your device's IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- The date and time of each page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics providers use them to understand aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can change how some features operate.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate the website and improve loading performance
- Route search requests to the appropriate partner
- Measure which pages visitors use
- Diagnose errors and technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-history records. The website provides general directions to Gordon County record custodians, including the Sheriff's records and jail functions, the courts that hear criminal cases, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry. Georgia criminal-history dissemination is governed in part by O.C.G.A. §35-3-34. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a third party's criminal file.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner controls its own collection, retention, and disclosure practices. Review those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Gordon County Sheriff, court resources, Georgia agencies, legal-aid organizations, or outside search tools. Once you leave this website, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to track activity across websites for targeted advertising. That processing occurs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be received by:
- Search partners processing a query you submit
- Analytics vendors measuring use and performance
- Advertising networks placing ads
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect the information we collect. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor submitted personal data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Georgia does not provide a blanket set of consumer privacy rights identical to the comprehensive laws of some other states. The Georgia Fair Business Practices Act, O.C.G.A. §10-1-390 et seq., addresses unfair or deceptive consumer practices, while the Georgia Open Records Act governs access to government records rather than data held by this private website. Subject to applicable law and our ability to verify a request, you may:
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask us to delete data we control
- Request an available opt-out from certain processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this privacy policy as practices or legal requirements change. A revised version will appear here with a new effective date.
Effective date: July 18, 2026
